What’s theORIGINAL class? It’s authentic barre - exercises that strengthen and lengthen and hit all of the muscles you never knew you had. The class format and exercises stay true to the origin of barre exercise as created by Lotte Berk in the 1960s, well before barre went worldwide and began to incorporate strength training components (e.g., planks, pushups, weight work, etc.). Although every exercise is bodyweight only, the nuances of your body position and the subtlety of each movement challenge your muscles in a whole different way than traditional strength training. theORIGINAL is also the most social of all of the classes offered; portions of class have everyone in a circle facing each other to encourage talking. I know - talking during a group exercise class?! Don’t worry, it doesn’t take away from the challenge of the exercises and it makes showing up for class that much more fun.
